Job Overview
We're seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Fabrication & Production Assistant to join our on-site manufacturing team. This hands-on position supports all aspects of sign production, from material preparation and fabrication to wiring, assembly, and shipping. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable using power tools, and eager to learn the sign manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the fabrication and final assembly of custom signs, channel letters, and sign cabinets
- Use power tools safely and accurately, including miter saws, table saws, drills, grinders, and other shop equipment
- Measure, cut, and prepare aluminum, plastic, and other sign materials for production
- Cut plastic sheets and other substrates to specification
- Wire LED channel letters, sign cabinets, and other illuminated signage according to company standards
- Assist with final assembly and testing of completed signs
- Prepare finished products for shipment, including packaging, crating, labeling, and loading
- Organize and stage materials for production and upcoming projects
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment
- Support the production team with additional fabrication and shop duties as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and experience working with hand and power tools
- Ability to safely operate shop equipment, including miter saws and table saws
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to read a tape measure and follow production drawings and work instructions
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Dependable, organized, and willing to learn new fabrication techniques
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a sign shop, fabrication shop, manufacturing, or construction environment
- Familiarity with wiring LED lighting systems or other low-voltage electrical work
- Experience assembling aluminum sign cabinets or channel letters
- Experience preparing products for shipping and freight
- Forklift experience is a plus (but not required)
