Summary:
The RN - Radiation Oncology will provide nursing care to patients undergoing radiation therapy treatments. The RN will perform physical examinations within prescribed guidelines and instruction of physician. The RN will carry out physician's orders for diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. This individual will record physical findings, formulates plan based on a patient's acuity, discusses case with physician and other health care professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan, and evaluates outcomes. The RN will monitor all areas of patient care and effective relationships with physicians, patients, family and other health professionals. The RN will serve as a resource and role model for other positions. This position will demonstrate competency in the care of patients pediatric to geriatric.
The RN is responsible and accountable for the care of the assigned patients and directs others to assure quality patient care. The RN is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules, and regulations established by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. The RN will demonstrate skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care based on meticulous application of the nursing process. The RN will demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. The RN will actively participate in patient care, quality, and performance improvement through data collections, and aggregation and analysis of relevant key indicators of quality (KIQ’s). This commitment to quality results in the development and implementation of action plans to include the monitoring of the effectiveness of improvements (Hold the Gains). The RN will serve as a professional role model as a caregiver, mentor, teacher and resource for peers and other providers. The RN will demonstrate competency in the care of Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric patient.
Requirements:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing program. Two years Oncology experience. Good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to complete job related competencies as deemed necessary to the performance of the RN role. Licenses and Certifications:
Valid and active RN licensure in appropriate state. CPR required Valid and active OCN(Oncology Certified Nurse) certification preferred
