We are seeking a Project Engineer specializing in high-end commercial Architectural Woodwork /Casework. This hands-on role manages the entire lifecycle of custom millwork projects. You will combine expert drafting skills in AutoCAD and Cabinet Vision with full project oversight, including field measurements, material purchasing, shop fabrication tracking, and installation supervision. Working directly from our facility, you will bridge the gap between design, supply chain, production, and field installation.
Key Responsibilities
• Drafting & Modeling: Generate highly detailed architectural shop drawings, elevations, sections, and trim details using AutoCAD.
• Cabinet Vision Engineering: Program custom cabinetry, configure construction methods, optimize material yields, and output automated cut lists via Cabinet Vision.
• Field Engineering & Measuring: Conduct precise, independent field measurements on active residential and commercial job sites to verify dimensions before manufacturing.
• Material Purchasing: Source, quote, and purchase specialized sheet goods, hardwood, laminates, and premium hardware required for each project, ensuring material tracking aligns with delivery deadlines.
• Fabrication Oversight: Monitor daily shop floor production, verifying that CNC outputs and hand-fabrication steps strictly match engineering specifications and quality standards.
• Installation Supervision: Overlook the field installation process, coordinating with installers and general contractors to troubleshoot on-site issues and ensure final placement meets design specifications.
• RFI, Submittals, & Change Orders: Identify structural or design conflicts to author clear Requests for Information (RFIs). Track drawing adjustments from field deviations to execute formal Change Orders.
Required Qualifications
• Experience: 5 years of experience in Architectural Millwork Engineering, encompassing both commercial and custom residential projects.
• Software Expertise: Advanced, standalone proficiency in AutoCAD and Cabinet Vision.
• Full-Lifecycle Competency: Proven background executing site measurements, ordering millwork materials, overseeing shop floor fabrication, and troubleshooting field installations.
• Work Structure: Must be able to work 100% daily in-office and travel locally to active job sites and shop floors as needed.
• Standards: Thorough knowledge of industry fabrication standards (e.g., AWI or Woodwork Institute).
