Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Director to lead engaging programs and recreational activities within our Memory Care Facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or long-term care settings, with a strong background in recreational therapy, dementia care, and senior engagement. This role offers an opportunity to enhance residents' quality of life through creative programming, social interaction, and personalized care. Duties
- Develop, plan, and execute a diverse calendar of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including memory care and Alzheimer’s care programs.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, providing support that encourages independence while ensuring safety.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assess individual needs and develop personalized activity plans.
- Manage scheduling for activities and staff to ensure smooth operation of daily programs.
- Provide counseling and support on aging issues, helping residents navigate challenges related to aging or disabilities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress in activities; report on outcomes to management.
- Foster relationships with families and community organizations to enhance activity offerings and community involvement.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and health regulations, including infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care facilities.
- Strong background in recreational therapy, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, or memory care programs.
- Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities; familiarity with caregiving roles is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling and social work principles related to senior care.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors through meaningful activities.
- Relevant certifications or training in senior care, recreational therapy, or dementia care are preferred but not required. This position offers an enriching environment where your creativity and compassion can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
