What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at Bristol County Agricultural High School?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work collaboratively with academic teachers in making curriculum accommodations and modifications and supervise students as per teaching schedule and contract.
Collaborate in developing lessons, demonstrations, quizzes, labs, and tests using formative and summative assessment methods to ensure student growth in co-taught classes.
Provide a safe school learning environment by way of supervision and support of all students.
Keep accurate records of student progress utilizing required data systems and reporting methods as instructed by administration.
Use and integrate technology for the purpose of communication, instruction, student reporting and making necessary accommodations and modifications to curriculum. Utilize/assist in use of appropriate assistive technology as necessary/required.
Assume responsibilities and duties assigned to teachers as per teacher contract.
Assist students with placement, career counseling, and matriculation to post-secondary opportunities consistent with the individualized needs outlined in the transition plan of their IEP.
Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum frameworks.
Comply with all accommodations and modifications as required by Individualized Education Plans.
Establish and maintain protocols to ensure compliance with student handbook and demonstrate effective classroom management.
Where appropriate, participate in advisory (vocational), departmental, and faculty meetings.
Assist Special Education Director with any duties and tasks needed to improve the special education department.
Abide by school operating procedures and policies.
Cooperate with staff members for the purpose of scheduling and placement of students.
To actively participate in all duties and tasks that are needed for the Special Education department.
Responsible as liaison for a caseload of assigned students.
Write Individualized Education Plans including goals, accommodations, and other necessary components of the IEP in accordance with individual student need, disability, and progress monitoring data.
Assume all other responsibilities identified in the collective bargaining agreement and/or as assigned by the school administration.
