What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Consultant position at Bristol Consulting?
Associate Consultant (Independent Contractor)
Bristol Consulting | Remote Occasional Local On-Site (Brazos Valley)
Hi there! I'm Amelia Bristol, owner of Bristol Consulting - a boutique consulting practice that supports small businesses, entrepreneurs, and organizations with operations, content, systems, and strategic support. My work is highly relationship-driven and hands-on, and demand has grown to the point where I’m ready to bring on one associate consultant to support execution and "boots on-the-ground" work.
THE ROLE
This is a paid, independent contractor role structured as a pilot opportunity with room to grow. It’s well suited for someone early in their consulting or professional career who wants meaningful experiences with a variety of industries, flexible/hybrid work, and exposure to how a consulting business operates behind the scenes.
The associate consultant will support client work by handling structured, execution-focused projects under my direction. Some work will be completed remotely, and some projects may involve being on-site locally with clients. You’ll work within established systems and standards, and all deliverables are reviewed by me before being shared with clients. Associates must maintain a high level of quality, consistency, and professionalism.
The work varies based on client needs and every day is different! Example projects include organizing and rebuilding documentation, creating graphics for social media, auditing and cleaning up files, website building, event planning, writing copy, and creating missing materials using provided guidance and templates. Some projects involve hands-on, on-site support such as sorting records, organizing office spaces, or preparing materials for reviews or inspections and others can be completed remotely. You may also support digital and operational work such as building or updating websites and website sections, creating graphics or social media templates, drafting content calendars or blog posts, and conducting research like competitor analysis or market research.
This role offers flexible, part-time work as an independent contractor. Projects are assigned based on client demand and mutual availability. Work can often be completed between other commitments with the opportunity for projects to grow in scope if it’s a good fit for both of us!
In return, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on real client projects, insight into how a consulting practice operates day to day, and the opportunity to build practical, portfolio-ready work. You’ll work closely with me, receive feedback and mentorship, and see how strategy translates into execution in a real-world setting.
COMPENSATION
Compensation varies by project and is discussed and agreed upon for each before work begins. Hourly projects are typically in the $15–$20 per hour range, depending on scope, complexity, and turnaround time. Many projects are priced as flat-rate deliverables rather than hourly. Project-based work is paid within one week of approval, and hourly work is paid every other Friday.
Selected candidates will be invited to complete a paid skills test that reflects real client work. Candidates who successfully complete the test will be onboarded as independent contractors. If you’re interested in flexible, meaningful work within a growing consulting practice, please reach out as soon as possible.
