Aerostar Environmental & Construction is growing! We are seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager III to support our ecological services team in Jacksonville, Florida.
This position provides environmental consulting services for government and commercial clients during planning, design, construction, and restoration phases. Typical projects include siting/routing, environmental permitting, environmental regulatory review, natural resources evaluation, wetland delineation, listed species surveys and relocation, stormwater compliance, mitigation planning and implementation. Project Manager III is accountable for developing proposals and executing projects within scope, budget, and schedule, self-performing technical work within their area of expertise and supported by our team of environmental scientists, engineers, and other technical professionals. Project Manager III serves as the primary point of contact with internal and external stakeholders including the project team, BBCH leadership, clients, regulators, and the general public, and is accountable for developing and maintaining these relationships.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project management and experience working through regulatory requirements overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife (USFWS), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Florida State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), and water management districts. Specialized expertise in wetland delineation, gopher tortoises (surveys, handling), bats (acoustic surveys, mist net surveys, telemetry), birds/ornithology, plants/botany, master planning, forest management planning, preparing Natural Resource Evaluations (NREs), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, conducting Wildlife Hazard Assessments, preparing Wildlife Hazard Management Plans, leading wildlife hazard training, Bird/wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) reviews is ideal but not necessarily required.
The ideal candidate will be fast-paced, proactive, structured, accurate, and thrive in a technical expert role. This position reports to the Jacksonville, Florida office, requires approximately 25% travel, with the potential for a hybrid schedule. This position requires working in a variety of weather/environmental conditions and may require working outside of standard working hours for travel or dusk/dawn/nocturnal surveys.

Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

- Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related field;
- Ten years relevant professional experience; and
- Maintains or is pursuing professional licensure or relevant technical certification (e.g., Project Management Professional [PMP], licensed Professional Geologist [PG], licensed Professional Engineer [PE], Associate or Certified Wildlife Biologist [AWB/CWB], Qualified Airport Wildlife Biologist [QAWB], Professional Wetland Scientist [PWS], Arborist)
