What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pet Care Specialist position at Brisco's Buddies?
Responsibilities:
- Walk dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments safely and confidently
- Provide care for cats and small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.)
- Feed, provide fresh water, administer basic oral medications (if needed), and clean up after pets
- Handle leash reactivity, pulling, multi-dog walks, and unexpected behavior safely
- Follow detailed care instructions and respect client homes
- Work independently and make sound decisions in the moment—support may not always be immediately available
- Communicate clearly with clients and the Brisco's Buddies team using our mobile app (photos, updates, time logs)
- Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns promptly
- Maintain a calm, kind, and patient attitude—especially under pressure
- Be available and willing to work major holidays,
Requirements:
- Prior professional or personal experience in animal care
- Availability for evening and weekend shifts, including holidays
- Comfortable working independently with limited supervision
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Smartphone with app capability for scheduling and communication
- Strong time management and follow-through—punctuality is a must
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and handle physically active shifts
- Must be 18 and legally able to work in the U.S.
Bonus Skills (Not Required):
- Experience with senior pets, reactive dogs, or exotic animals
- Pet CPR or First Aid Certification
- Background in animal shelters, rescues, or veterinary assistance
