Primary Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the daily preparation and service of meals for day center participants.
- Collaborate with the Day Center Operations Manager to develop menu changes, plan special events, and prepare holiday meals.
- Place food and supply orders as needed.
- Ensure all meals meet established nutritional standards for older adults.
- Accommodate special diets (e.g. allergies, restrictions) and texture modifications (e.g. soft, pureed).
- Manage food and kitchen supply inventories within budget constraints.
- Monitor food costs, minimize waste, and maintain cost effective meal production.
- Enforce food safety and sanitation practices per local and state health regulations.
- Conduct regular kitchen inspections and maintain accurate records.
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Foster a warm, respectful, and welcoming dining environment for all participants.
- 2 years of cooking experience, preferably in healthcare or senior living settings, required.
- 1 year experience working with frail elderly.
- ServSafe Certification, required.
- Degree or certification in Food Service Management, Hospitality, Nutrition, or Culinary field, preferred.
- Computer proficiency and basic math skills, required.
- Thorough understanding of food safety standards, dietary guidelines, and therapeutic diets for older adults, preferred.
