Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and efficient Procurement Specialist/Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will work with the project manager to coordinate and accomplish the necessary project tasks and requirements. Candidate must have an eye for detail and a go-getter personality, ready to help synchronize all the project elements and make them operate successfully. This includes but is not limited to managing bids, negotiating rates, drafting and administering purchase orders and maintaining records.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Procurement Specialist/Buyer is expected to be able to do lumber take off's as well as concrete, rebar, tile, carpet and other building materials for projects.
- Ability to review drawings and specifications to become completely familiar with the project and identify long lead times and critical path items.
Procurement Specialist/Buyer oversees the entire bidding process to ensure that project contracts and bids are complete and filed on time: Soliciting estimates from vendors, Establishes the Scope of Work/RFP to be sent to bidders, Pursue and monitor submittals from subcontractors, Complete sub evaluations/comparisons of bids, scope review, and complete buyout as requested by Project Manager, Maintain a project submittal log and obtain designer’s approval, Manage said submittal log and ensure all submittals are processed promptly, The Procurement Specialist/Buyer will help to negotiate prices and other terms of a contract with the subcontractor/vendor in order to achieve the satisfaction of both parties.
- Carry out daily operational tasks in an effective and timely manner
- Organize, file, and maintain all current project documents
- Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of construction experience.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in doing lumber/material take off's at a lumberyard/supply house.
- A working knowledge of current office practices and software, specifically Adobe, Sage, Microsoft Word, Planswift, Timberscan and Excel.
- Due to the high degree of interaction with potential subcontractors, Procurement Specialist/Buyer is expected to have excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
