Our construction related client is seeking an experienced Chief Construction Officer to lead the next phase of their operational growth. This is a unique opportunity for a proven leader to take ownership of business operations, drive strategic initiatives, and build scalable systems within a well-established company in the South Bend, IN area.
This role will play a critical role in modernizing operations, improving commercial processes, and supporting long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Assume full operational leadership and P&L responsibility.
- Drive revenue growth while maintaining strong project profitability.
- Develop scalable operational processes that support continued expansion.
- Partner with field leadership to ensure successful project execution.
Estimating & Business Development
- Lead and oversee all estimating activities for public and private projects.
- Build and manage a structured bidding process to maximize project opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive pipeline of upcoming work.
- Monitor bid success rates, market trends, and competitive pricing to improve win percentages.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Lead implementation of modern technology solutions across estimating, operations, and business development.
- Develop standardized workflows and operating procedures.
- Implement CRM and project tracking systems to improve visibility and accountability.
- Create reporting tools that support data-driven decision making.
Customer & Market Development
- Strengthen relationships with municipalities, developers, general contractors, and key clients.
- Expand the company's regional presence through strategic business development efforts.
Financial & Performance Management
- Support budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and financial reporting.
- Monitor project performance, unit costs, and operational KPIs.
- Collaborate with finance to improve reporting accuracy and project visibility.
Qualifications: (Relocation to East South Bend, IN)
- 15 years of leadership experience within construction, excavation, earthwork, underground utilities, site development, or related.
- Strong estimating and project management background.
- Experience overseeing business operations with P&L responsibility.
- Knowledge of public bidding processes and municipal work.
- Proven ability to implement operational systems and improve organizational efficiency.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build high-performing teams and establish accountability.

Salary Range: 175-200K bonus profit sharing
