What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher position at BRILLIANT MINDS CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER?
Brilliant Minds Child Development Center is seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Preschool Lead Teacher to join our growing team. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, maintaining a safe and nurturing classroom environment, and leading classroom staff while ensuring compliance with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) regulations.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with early childhood development standards
- Lead and supervise assistant teachers and classroom aides
- Foster a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Conduct ongoing assessments of children’s development and maintain accurate records
- Communicate effectively with families regarding children’s progress and needs
- Ensure classroom compliance with all MSDE licensing regulations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom
- Proven experience working with young children in a preschool or child development center setting, including toddler care and classroom experience
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education standards, and classroom management techniques
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and Montessori methods
- Ability to implement behavior management strategies effectively while maintaining a positive learning environment
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with parents, colleagues, and specialists in early intervention or special education
- Certification or training in early childhood education or related fields is preferred; relevant certifications are a plus
- Passion for nurturing children's growth through engaging activities such as physical education, tutoring, or creative arts
Qualifications (Maryland Lead Teacher Requirements)
- Must meet Maryland Lead Teacher qualifications (MSDE) including:
- 90-hour Preschool Certification
- 9-hour Communication Course
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Minimum 1- 2 years of childcare or preschool experience
- ADA Training compliance
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Maryland Child Care Credential (Level 3 or higher preferred)
- Experience in a licensed childcare center
