Overview
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will support the development and maintenance of software that enables secure, accurate, and compliant prize claim processing. You’ll gain hands‑on experience working on transaction‑driven systems that support critical business operations and customer workflows within the lottery environment.
You’ll work in an agile, collaborative team where learning, mentorship, and continuous improvement are core to how work gets done. Through sprint work and design discussions, you’ll build foundational engineering skills while learning how reliable, high‑volume systems are designed, tested, and delivered.
Responsibilities
Base pay is one part of our Total Rewards program. Non-exempt roles are eligible for irregular discretionary bonuses. Responsibilities
- Support enhancements and updates to prize claiming applications
- Contribute to front‑end, back‑end, full‑stack, or quality engineering work
- Participate in sprint planning, design discussions, and code reviews
- Write clean, maintainable code following team standards
- Assist with testing, including basic test cases or automated tests
- Document code changes and technical processes
- Help troubleshoot issues and support root‑cause analysis
- Follow incident, change, and release management processes
- Participate in mentoring and professional development activities
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Foundational knowledge of at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript)
- Understanding of core programming concepts and object‑oriented principles
- Familiarity with basic web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Git or other version control tools
- Exposure to agile development methodologies
- Basic understanding of APIs or RESTful services
- Familiarity with modern UI or backend frameworks
- Exposure to automated testing, cloud concepts, or databases
- Interest in transaction‑based systems, data integrity, or secure application development
