Responsibilities
- Represent the company in negotiating contracts and formulating supplier agreements and programs
- Provide training, customer service and direction to locations that utilize the materials, products or services
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.Maintain records of goods ordered and received
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
- Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelors degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three years of progressive work experience managing purchasing and procurement functions from requisition through disbursement cycle
- Strong managerial skills
- Knowledge of state procurement practices
- Demonstrated expertise in drafting and analyzing Request For Proposals, Request For Qualifications, Request For Informations, contracts, business documents and/or other agreements while assuring compliance with applicable laws, guidelines and contract terms
- Experience in negotiating purchasing terms with existing and prospective suppliers
