Position Overview
We are seeking a Electrical Engineer for a full-time, on-site role in our Bethesda, Maryland office. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary BIM teams, development of detailed power and electrical system designs, project coordination, and mentorship of junior engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Engineering
- Design electrical systems for residential, commercial, mixed-use, and mission-critical facilities.
- Develop detailed electrical and power distribution system designs.
- Perform load calculations, feasibility studies, and cost analyses.
- Design lighting systems, lighting controls, and grounding systems.
Project Coordination & Execution
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary BIM and engineering teams throughout all project phases.
- Manage project schedules and support successful project delivery within established timelines.
- Oversee installation activities and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Technical Analysis & Compliance
- Conduct power distribution and system analyses to ensure system efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Support energy-efficient and sustainable design initiatives, including LEED-focused projects when applicable.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and support junior engineering team members.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in electrical design and electrical engineering principles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of power distribution systems and power system analysis.
- Experience applying electrical engineering principles to residential and commercial building projects.
- Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of lighting systems, lighting controls, grounding systems, and electrical load analysis.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient design and sustainability standards such as LEED is preferred.
