Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Inside Sales – Estimator to join a growing, small-town manufacturing business that serves customers nationwide. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, purchasing, accounting, and shipping to support project quoting, order processing, and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Quoting
- Review and interpret technical drawings to prepare accurate and timely project quotes using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications.
- Develop basic sales drawings, including silo geometrical dimensions.
Sales & Customer Engagement
- Communicate effectively with customers via phone, email, and video conferencing.
- Support business growth by identifying opportunities to expand the customer base.
- Participate in discussions with leadership regarding pricing strategies and contract terms.
- Achieve key performance metrics, including revenue targets.
Order Processing & Coordination
- Process purchase orders and ensure accurate communication of project specifications across departments (accounting, engineering, production, and shipping).
- Maintain strong coordination with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Training & Development
- Participate in hands-on shop training (approximately 15 hours per week for the first 6 months) to gain product knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Learn and apply CAD tools for basic drawing creation as needed.
Marketing & Business Support
- Assist in developing marketing materials and maintaining website content.
- Support occasional site visits, customer meetings, and industry-related travel as required.
Qualifications
- 5 years of hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with CRM systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Willingness and ability to learn CAD software for basic design work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to quote custom projects.
- Familiarity with technical materials (e.g., A36 carbon steel) or willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a passion for personal and professional growth.
