About the job
GENERAL MANAGER / DIRECTOR OF SALES
WE'RE NOT LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO SIT IN AN OFFICE.
We're looking for a proven sales leader and strong closer who can build a high-performance sales team and drive significant revenue growth.
We are a fast-growing retail home improvement outlet selling appliances, furniture, flooring, mattresses, home improvement products and more.
We need a leader who knows how to SELL, CLOSE, RECRUIT, TRAIN, COACH AND WIN.
THE MISSION
Your primary responsibility is simple:
BUILD THE SALES TEAM AND GROW REVENUE.
We're building toward doubling our monthly retail operation revenue, and we're looking for someone who has the experience, energy and sales ability to help get us there.
This is a hands-on leadership position.
When the sales floor gets busy, you're on it.
When a salesperson needs help closing a deal, you're taking the turnover.
When traffic slows down, you're creating a plan to generate opportunities.
When the team isn't producing, you're coaching, training, recruiting and making changes.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Recruit and build a high-performing retail sales team.
- Personally train salespeople on greeting, discovery, product presentation, financing, negotiation and closing.
- Establish individual and team sales goals.
- Hold daily sales meetings and performance huddles.
- Monitor sales, close rates, average tickets, financing penetration and gross margin.
- Take management turnovers and personally close difficult opportunities.
- Ensure every customer is properly greeted, registered and followed up with.
- Build aggressive follow-up processes for unsold customers and internet leads.
- Work with marketing and internet sales to create store traffic.
- Drive CRM accountability and lead follow-up.
- Develop promotions and sales strategies when the business needs additional traffic.
- Protect margin and reduce unnecessary discounting.
- Recruit continuously so the company develops a strong bench of sales talent.
- Hold employees accountable for measurable performance.
- Create a competitive, energetic, customer-focused sales culture.
WHO WE WANT
We're looking for someone with a documented history of producing sales results.
You should be able to show us:
- Personal sales success.
- Experience leading a sales team.
- Experience recruiting and developing salespeople.
- Measurable revenue growth under your leadership.
- Strong closing and negotiation ability.
- Experience holding employees accountable to quotas and KPIs.
- The ability to operate in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment.
Experience in furniture, appliances, automotive, RV, powersports, home improvement, mattresses, flooring, commissioned retail or another high-ticket sales environment is especially attractive.
THIS POSITION IS NOT FOR YOU IF:
You want to manage from an office.
You aren't comfortable personally selling.
You avoid difficult accountability conversations.
You believe recruiting is solely HR's responsibility.
You need someone else to create your sales strategy.
Or you cannot demonstrate measurable sales results from previous positions.
THIS MAY BE YOUR OPPORTUNITY IF:
You're the person other salespeople call when they can't close the deal.
You know how to turn average salespeople into producers.
You love building teams.
You understand that sales leadership happens on the sales floor.
And you want the opportunity to help build something much larger than one retail store.
If that's you, we want to talk.
