Job Description
NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for maintaining, implementing and improving Quality Program through execution of the following:
Development and conduction of training to establish a knowledge base.
Hands-on use of tools with the purpose of spreading knowledge through execution, while at the same time generating improvements to processes or situations.
Facilitate the SPC program, practices and systems, along with their effectiveness.
Take responsibility for Gage R&R procedures, practices and systems, along with their effectiveness.
Serving as CAR system coordinator, assisting Managers with root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive continuous improvement through execution of improvement activities such as PIT teams, capability studies, Gage R&R, etc.
Serve as the backup ISO/QS management representative for the QA Manager.
Create and conduct training programs to establish a common understanding of appropriate tools& techniques.
Maintain and monitor the corrective/preventive action process. Serve as the direct customer QA contact for problem resolution.
Serve as a member of the APQP Team, bringing TQM tools to use (and teach to other team members) in the pre-production process and improving the effectiveness of APQP.
Serve as team leader member and/or advisor on Process Improvement teams. The intent is to usethis hands-on opportunity to not only fix & improve but to pass on knowledge of tools &techniques to others.
Serve as team member and/or advisor on CAR teams. The intent is to use this hands-on opportunity to not only fix/improve but to pass on knowledge techniques.
Monitor and maintain the Gage R&R process. Foster understanding in department coordinators& operators through hands-on execution of studies. Creates and/or maintains a system formonitoring effectiveness of the system, practices and process. Take action to ensureeffectiveness is achieved.
Facilitate the SPC process. Foster understanding and prudent use of statistics for product, and ultimately, process monitoring. Establish system for maintaining CPK data in a fashion for ease of use.
Establish system for monitoring improvement through active use of CPK data for internal operations. Work with departments to promote understanding and appropriate use of data to make improvements.
Serve as a resource for managers charged with quality implementation.
Maintain state of the art concepts of quality by attending seminars, reviewing literature, educating management and teaching quality tools to all personnel.
Provide input into the qualification process of new equipment and/or processes.
Serve as the backup for the QA staff.
Provide guidance and direction to the QA staff in the absence of the QA Manager.
Responsible for the completion of tasks related to the position as assigned by the QA Manager.
Promote continuous improvement by proactively identifying issues and providing solutions with the goal of reducing cost and improving performance.
Establish, monitor and make positive contributions to environmental objectives, targets and programs for the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.
Perform other tasks within the scope of the position, as required.
Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and safety rules and regulations.
Perform special projects and/or prepares special reports as assigned.
Minimize waste and conserve energy through reuse, recycling, and following Environmental Management System practices.
AUTHORITY
Able to shut down any process which is producing non-conforming product.
Authorizes return of samples, as needed, to verify customer complaints.
Holds stock from shipping which has not passed or completed testing.
Coordinate work based on daily requirements through the Quality Department.
Issuance of RGAs, CARs. Initiate re-work/replacement orders as required.
Establish, monitor and make positive contributions to environmental objectives, targets and programs for the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.
Ensure employees are trained to minimize impact of their work on the environment.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
Implementation of a comprehensive system for collecting, tracking, analyzing and actin on SPC data.
Evidence of improvement (reduction) in the number of CARs for problems attacked on CAR teams.
Key members of each operating unit are capable of performing, analyzing & taking appropriate action on capability studies, Gage R&R and set-up reduction.
Gage R&R are being completed in each operating area as appropriate.
Improvement in APQP processes and level of problem solving techniques used in the APQP process.
Education and training are in sync with Continuous Improvement Program. Brings new techniques and/or applications and applies them to processes.
Achievement of specific objectives.
Implementation of QA policies and directives from the QA Manager.
Continuous Improvement/Waste Reduction evidence must be provided for inclusion in the formal performance evaluation.
On-time monthly activity reports which include documentation of waste reduction/continuous improvement activities.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
Mechanical technical experience is desired.
Possess a working knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality System standard.
Knowledge and understanding of the philosophy, principles and objectives of the total quality process is required.
Ability to communicate effectively at every level of the organization from floor employees to senior management.
Working knowledge of human relations, group dynamics, and problem solving techniques is required.
Analytical ability and creativity in the areas of problem solving and group dynamics with a high degree of initiative.
Laboratory experience, including metallurgical knowledge is preferred.8.SQE / ASP or ASME certification is preferred.
