The Instrumentations Specialist III plays a key role in shaping the instrumentation and controls design for projects from concept through execution. This position is design-focused and hands-on, partnering closely with internal engineering teams, clients, vendors, and field personnel to deliver smart, efficient, and constructible automation solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Provide day-to-day operation to the Instrumentation Engineering Team.
- Work with clients, contractors, and internal customers to produce the Automation and Instrumentation documents and drawings. Monitor and ensure that efforts are consistent with goals and objectives.
- Provide engineering support to clients, contractors and field personnel on all aspects of the Automation and Instrumentation documentation.
- Assist field personnel with technical issues when they arise.
- Lead and support the development of specifications inclusive of instrumentation equipment and the detail control designs of projects.
- Develop instrument take-off based on project P&ID’s.
- Prepare instrument data sheets and loop diagrams.
- Optimize instrument systems ensuring minimal cost and compliance with the required performance.
- Support use of Socketworx and PROCORE systems.
- Solicit and review vendor quotes based upon instrumentation specifications for all projects.
- Prepare proposals and compile budgets for Instrumentation projects.
- Work with vendors and other departments to procure materials and equipment.
- Provide for long-term development of the Instrumentation Engineering Team and its personnel.
What You Bring:
• 5 years of instrumentation and controls experience
• Strong design mindset and documentation skills
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• AutoCAD experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
• ISA CCST certification and process industry experience are a plus
Physical & Work Requirements
• Valid driver’s license; up to 15% travel may be required
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
• Occasional exposure to industrial environments
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds infrequently
