About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Ceramic Engineer to lead the development, testing, and optimization of advanced ceramic materials and components. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge R&D and product development initiatives within the ceramics and manufacturing sectors.
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in materials science, mechanical/chemical engineering, and hands-on experience with testing, CAD design, and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Engineering
- Lead new product development initiatives for ceramic materials and improve existing product lines.
- Ensure compliance with ASME and foundry codes & industry standards.
- Design and develop prototypes using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD tools, translating concepts into precise engineering drawings.
- Apply GD&T principles to maintain accuracy in design specifications and manufacturing tolerances.
Manufacturing & Operations
- Oversee in-house furnace maintenance and operations involving ceramic production.
- Provide technical support to ceramic machining activities and perform quality control assessments.
- Collect and analyze process data for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate and collaborate with ceramic component suppliers to strengthen documentation and production capabilities.
Research & Development
- Support R&D efforts by exploring new ceramic compositions, fabrication methods, and applications.
- Conduct laboratory testing and analyse material properties for ceramics, plastics, and composite materials.
- Integrate mechanical and ceramic engineering principles to enhance product performance.
Project & Compliance Management
- Manage project schedules to meet deadlines while ensuring safety and quality standards.
- Document engineering work thoroughly and follow validation and testing procedures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to drive effective project execution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other 3D CAD software.
- Experience with manufacturing processes including ceramic sintering, fabrication, plastics blow molding, and injection molding.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with ceramic, polymer, or composite material testing.
- Solid knowledge of ASME codes, quality control standards, and engineering documentation.
- Understanding of both mechanical and chemical engineering principles relevant to ceramic production.
- Experience with project scheduling tools and managing complex engineering projects.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present engineering data.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
