Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Preventionist to lead our infection control initiatives across healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of epidemiology, microbiology, and public health principles, with a strong focus on patient safety and infection prevention strategies. As an Infection Preventionist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection control policies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention programs aligned with current guidelines and best practices.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance of infectious diseases and monitor infection trends within the facility.
- Educate healthcare staff on infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and OSHA regulations to ensure adherence.
- Review medical records and documentation to identify potential infection risks and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to manage infectious disease care plans and patient observation protocols.
- Lead investigations of infection outbreaks, analyze data collection results, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain expertise in microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and epidemiology to inform evidence-based practices.
- Oversee staff training related to occupational health, patient monitoring, and infection control procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience in acute care environments or assisted living facilities with a focus on infection prevention or control.
- Strong knowledge of microbiology, infectious disease care, and public health principles.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes.
- Experience managing data related to infection rates and implementing data management strategies.
- Leadership skills with the ability to train and supervise multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, HIPAA regulations, and safety protocols such as aseptic technique.
- Critical care experience or hospital experience is highly desirable; experience in epidemiology is preferred.
