We are seeking a Product Certification / Compliance Specialist to join the Product Compliance team in North Andover, MA. This hybrid role (Monday–Wednesday in-office, Thursday–Friday remote) will support both new product certifications and the ongoing compliance of existing products.
This position will help manage day-to-day certification activities, agency submissions, sustaining of listings, and reactive compliance issues. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and experience (or strong aptitude) in product certification with regulatory agencies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage new product certification through the stage-gate process, including identifying applicable agencies, standards, testing requirements, and timelines from the earliest stages of NPD.
- Support sustaining activities for existing product listings, including annual renewals, documentation updates, and responding to standard changes or audit findings.
- Prepare, review, and submit certification applications, compliance plans, and technical documentation to certifying agencies.
- Serve as a key point of contact with external agencies, labs, and contractors (primarily North America-focused) on regulatory, testing, and compliance matters.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering, sourcing, quality, and manufacturing teams on certification pathways, test requirements, regulatory risks, and compliance strategies.
- Review engineering changes, drawings, and product markings for certification impact and ensure continued compliance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate third-party testing, audits, and inspections, including sample selection, documentation review, and responses to findings.
- Manage reactive compliance issues (e.g., lapsed certifications, audit failures) and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain and update technical certification databases, test reports, letters of conformity, and change documentation.
- Track compliance-related project costs, process invoices, and support certification budgeting activities.
- Interpret and apply relevant engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NSF, ASSE, CSA, UL, FM, IAPMO, and others).
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to educate teams on certification requirements and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Product Compliance Team.
Required Qualification
- sBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field preferred)
- .Minimum 1 year of experience in Engineering, Product Certification, Compliance, or Product Management. Entry-to-mid-level candidates are strongly considered if they have a strong mechanical foundation and a quick learning ability
- .Background knowledge of or direct experience with key certifying bodies such as NSF (especially NSF 61 & 372), ASSE, CSA, UL, FM, and similar organizations
- .Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical designs
- .Strong mechanical aptitude, ideally with experience in valves, plumbing, or mechanical fluid-handling products
- .Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- .Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory requirements to technical and non-technical audiences

Salary : $70,000 - $100,000
