Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA confidentiality standards
- Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and nutritional needs to promote healthy living
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and resident lifts to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities, observations, and progress notes in compliance with privacy regulations
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or memory care requirements
- Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to foster a positive community environment
- Ensure a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
Skills
- Proven experience working in assisted living, home health, nursing homes, or group homes with a focus on senior or disability care
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Strong understanding of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, autism support, hospice care, and memory care strategies
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts involving mobility assistance
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams
- Basic first aid certification along with CPR training; ongoing commitment to safety standards such as HIPAA compliance
- Experience assisting with complex needs including working with people with disabilities or developmental challenges
