Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal service in accordance with health standards
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
- Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA and assist in updating care plans regularly
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), autism support, and hospice or palliative care is advantageous
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks as needed for resident support
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities of any kind
- Experience working with seniors or individuals requiring long-term care or specialized memory support is beneficial
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others
