The Trade & Deductions Specialist plays a critical role in managing trade deductions, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and supporting the company’s revenue recovery efforts. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to resolve customer claims.
Specifically, you will:
- Deduction management: Review, validate, and process customer deductions related to trade promotions, pricing, shortages, delivery violations, and other claims
- Retrieving customer deduction back up from various customer portals
- Research & resolution: Investigate disputed deductions by analyzing invoices, contracts, and promotional agreements
- Collect all past due amounts and invalid deductions in a timely and appropriate manner
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Sales, Trade Marketing, and Finance to resolve issues and prevent recurring deductions
- Documentation & reporting: Maintain accurate records of deductions, resolutions, and adjustments
- Continuous improvement: Identify root causes of deductions and recommend process improvements to reduce future claims
The Ideal Candidate:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Experience: 5 years of experience in deductions, accounts receivable, or trade finance (CPG industry required)
- Technical skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools
- Analytical skills: Strong problem-solving ability with keen attention to detail
- Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal teams and external customers
- Team player: Collaborative approach with a focus on building strong working relationships
