Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Counselor to join our dynamic substance use and mental health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive counseling services to diverse populations, including adolescents, and adults, fostering resilience and promoting mental well-being. Your expertise will support individuals through various challenges, from substance use, trauma and grief to behavioral issues and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments and intake interviews to determine client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Deliver individual, group, and family therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral therapy.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to ensure client safety during urgent situations, including managing acute mental health crises and providing trauma-informed care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including medical records, treatment plans, progress notes, and ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for billing and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers—to coordinate comprehensive care for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities.
  • Utilize telehealth platforms effectively to deliver remote counseling sessions while adhering to clinical ethical guidelines and maintaining high-quality patient care standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with best practices in counseling, including addiction counseling, grief counseling and gender issues counseling.

Experience

  • Experience working with adolescents, or adults in clinical or outpatient settings.
  • Experience in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to mental health diagnoses and ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation.
  • Experience managing crisis situations effectively through crisis management techniques and behavior management strategies.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation standards within EMR/EHR systems and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to work in outpatient environments with a focus on patient assessment, treatment planning, and case management across diverse populations.

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field which includes a practicum in a health or human services agency.
  • Master's Degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field which includes a practicum in a health or human services agency.
  • LPC, preferred but not required.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
