We're looking for a bilingual Mortgage Loan Officer responsible for originating first mortgage and home equity loan products in alignment with secondary market standards, private investor requirements, private mortgage insurance guidelines, and Credit Union policies and procedures. - Prequalifies members and potential members to appropriate loan products based on individual credit profiles and credit needs. Analyzes application to determine documents necessary to submit loan application for processing. Obtains tax returns, bank statements, etc., from member as needed.
- Answers general inquiries from members or prospective members concerning rates, products, loan requirements and application process via phone, Branch office, members' home or other meeting place as requested by the member.
- Maintains knowledge of current changes to investor guidelines, product changes, the general financial industry, and the real estate market in which the originator is assigned.
- Maintains knowledge of compliance laws applicable to mortgage and home equity loan originations including Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending, Good Faith Estimate), Regulation C (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act HMDA), and other state and federal laws which may be applicable.
- Maintains knowledge of all Credit Union products and services for the benefit of cross-selling to members or potential members.
- Prepares the first mortgage applications in the Encompass system. Runs the credit, submits to DU, and discusses options with the Member. Completes follow-up to ensure the application remains in compliance with regulations and BrightBridge processes and procedures.
- Submits well prepared and organized mortgage loan and home equity loan application packages to loan processing within specified time periods, including accurate and detailed information input into the Encompass systems.
- Provides feedback to management with regard to competitor's pricing, products and other applicable issues, as they may become known.
- Performs additional duties as requested.
What We’re Looking For (Your Qualifications)
- Associates degree or equivalent experience in the mortgage/consumer lending industry.
- One to three years bank/mortgage company/credit union experience as a mortgage originator.
- Knowledge of mortgage loan secondary market investor underwriting guidelines preferred.
- Proven sales ability developing and cultivating relationships with members and the general public.
- Detail oriented, excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and commitment to working in a team environment.
- Experience with personal computers and a Windows environment including Outlook, Excel and Word. Lap Top organizational skills required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) and must maintain registration with NMLS as a registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Salary : $54,653 - $63,990
