What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Support Specialist (Flexible/Part Time) position at BrightBee Inc.?
The Opportunity:
School Support Associates are responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operations of lunch, recess, custodial and arrival/dismissal at the school site run safely and smoothly. Furthermore, Specialists are responsible for ensuring that students maintain culturally appropriate behavior in all operational activities.
Essential Functions:
Support staff with behavior management as needed.
Help meet culture goals by reducing suspensions/detentions, increasing attendance, and improving student/family NPS.
Build relationships with students to encourage positive behavior and hold them accountable to the Code of Conduct.
Give “shoutouts” for positive behaviors and “reminders” for misbehaviors.
Supervise and manage student behavior during lunch, dismissal, after-school, transitions, and special events.
De-escalate conflicts and redirect students to maximize instructional time.
Partner with families around behavioral needs and progress.
Share student information across teams to align support.
Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans.
Ensure safety and enforce rules during lunch, recess, and passing periods.
Provide coverage in all common areas (lunchroom, schoolyard, parking lot).
Mediate and resolve student conflicts.
Administer first aid and complete accident reports.
Maintain computer logs and safety records.
Keep campus clean and safe, reporting hazards or repair needs.

Who You Are:
An individual with a genuine enthusiasm for working with children and youth along with alignment to our mission of supporting workers, students, and schools while promoting academic success.
- High School Diploma, required; Associates and Bachelor’s degree, preferred (and may be mandatory for some assignments)
- Additional coursework, certifications, or degrees in education, child development, or related fields, preferred.
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute to public and charter schools within the applicant region, required.
- Some prior experience working with K-12 students in educational settings, required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with teachers, students, and school staff.
- Ability to quickly adapt to varying classroom environments, student needs, and instructional approaches.
- Dependability and punctuality are vital for fulfilling on-demand job opportunities efficiently.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
