SALARY RANGE: $20 -$25 an hour, dependent on experience
HOURS: M-F between 7:30am and 4:30pm
REPORTS TO: School Principal, Administration Team, BID

SUMMARY OF ROLE
The Behavior Intervention Implementation (BII) Specialist provides targeted behavioral support to students, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. This role collaborates with case managers, teachers, administrators, school psychologists, and the Behavior Intervention Development (BID) Specialist to analyze progress, communicate updates, and support students in meeting their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals. The BII Specialist implements and monitors Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), reinforces appropriate behaviors, and tracks prescribed BII services. By addressing the behavioral and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities, the BII Specialist helps create a supportive school environment that fosters student success.
What You’ll Do
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, as well as, other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
- Collaborate with case managers, BID providers, psychologists, teachers, administrators, and other partners to implement the student’s IEP and BIP with fidelity.
- Implement, monitor, and document Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), including behavior logs and Welligent entries, using approved strategies to reinforce positive behaviors and provide social-emotional support.
- Supervise the assigned student throughout the day, ensure safety, and intervene or de-escalate as needed using crisis prevention strategies.
- Support student independence and social-emotional development while ensuring accommodations and supports outlined in the IEP/BIP are consistently provided.
- Communicate regularly with the student’s BID provider, case manager, and school staff about progress, needs, and observations across school settings.
- Participate in required training, professional development, and report drafting to stay aligned with best practices and compliance requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; AA degree or higher preferred, with coursework in child development, education, or psychology desirable (verification required).
- 1–2 years of experience working with school-age children, including students with disabilities, and experience as an Education/Instructional Assistant or similar role.
- Training and experience in behavior intervention techniques, including ABA-based strategies; ability and willingness to obtain/maintain Crisis Prevention & De-escalation certification (e.g., Safety Care, CPI).
- Ability to observe, track, and report behavioral and academic data using basic record-keeping procedures; familiarity with Special Education compliance expectations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills; ability to remain calm under stress, follow directions, maintain confidentiality, and collaborate effectively with staff and families.
- Capacity to meet the physical demands of the role (e.g., kneeling, bending, extended standing/sitting) and operate standard office/classroom equipment while completing tasks reliably and on time.
