Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to aseptic techniques.
- Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate images necessary for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic to document patient information accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Take vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates to monitor patient health before procedures.
- Maintain infection control protocols by following strict sterilization procedures and ensuring all clinical areas meet OSHA standards.
- Support front desk operations by performing dental receptionist duties including scheduling appointments, confirming patient visits, and managing medical documentation.
- Assist with chairside procedures using advanced knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to provide efficient support during treatments.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and answer questions related to dental procedures or oral health practices.
- Ensure proper handling of medical records and coding for billing purposes while maintaining accuracy in medical documentation.
- Support the integration of new technologies such as 3D scanners or digital radiography systems to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
- Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to improve workflow efficiency and patient comfort.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
- Experience with dental imaging techniques including X-ray taking and 3D scanning enhances your ability to support complex cases effectively preferred.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology is crucial for success in this role preferred.
- Certification or experience in chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, or medical coding will set you apart as a well-rounded candidate ready to contribute immediately.
