About the Role
Bright Side Painting of Jax is seeking a Commercial Estimator to join our growing team. This is a full-time, in-office role focused on managing the estimating process from RFP intake through proposal submission. This is not a sales position — this role is responsible for building accurate, organized, and competitive bids that set projects up for success.
We are looking for someone with commercial estimating experience who can step in, take ownership of the bid pipeline, and operate in a structured, high-accountability environment.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Estimating & Takeoffs
- Prepare detailed, accurate estimates for commercial painting and coatings projects
- Perform digital takeoffs using TogalAi, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar software
- Develop labor and material pricing based on production rates and job conditions
- Review plans and specifications to fully understand scope
Bid Management
- Review and qualify incoming RFPs and bid opportunities
- Manage and maintain the bid tracker (deadlines, priorities, status)
- Organize all plans, specs, and addenda for each project
- Own the estimating pipeline from intake to submission
Proposal Development
- Build clear, professional proposals with defined scope
- Communicate inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions
- Submit bids on time and in alignment with requirements
- Provide value engineering options when applicable
Coordination & Communication
- Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as needed
- Communicate with general contractors, vendors, and internal team
- Coordinate clean handoff to project management after award
Tracking & Improvement
- Track bid results (awarded vs. lost)
- Analyze trends to improve estimating accuracy and win rate
- Maintain and improve estimating templates and processes

- Accurate, complete bids
- Consistent on-time submissions
- Clear scopes with minimal post-award issues
- Organized and predictable bid pipeline
- Strong alignment with operations team
Requirements
- 2–5 years of commercial estimating experience (painting or related trade preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Experience with takeoff software (TogalAi, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Clear communication and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with commercial painting and coatings
- Experience with bid platforms (BuildingConnected, ConstructConnect, Compass, PlanHub, etc.)
- Knowledge of epoxy or specialty coatings
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Salary : $55,000 - $75,000
