The SAP EAM Technical Consultant will provide advanced technical expertise supporting SAP Plant Maintenance (PM), Service Management (SM), and Project Systems (PS) modules. This role will be responsible for ABAP development, system enhancements, integrations, and production support activities across SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments.
The consultant will collaborate closely with functional teams, business stakeholders, and cross-module SAP technical groups including SAP MM, FI, BW, and CCS to deliver high-quality, scalable, and efficient SAP solutions aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Development & Enhancements
- Design, develop, and enhance SAP ABAP objects including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, workflows, and RICEFW components supporting PM, SM, and PS modules.
- Implement custom developments, user exits, BAdIs, enhancements, and workflows to optimize system functionality and performance.
- Perform complex ABAP debugging, root cause analysis, and issue resolution across development, QA, and production environments.
Collaboration & Solution Design
- Work closely with functional consultants, business analysts, and end users to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Participate in blueprinting and project design sessions to validate technical feasibility and ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional SAP teams to deliver solutions on time and within scope and budget.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Conduct unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and performance tuning to ensure solution stability, reliability, and optimal system performance.
- Ensure adherence to SAP best practices, development standards, and governance processes.
Production Support & Operations
- Provide production support, troubleshooting issues related to ABAP development, configuration, security, or business process gaps.
- Support on-call rotations for after-hours and emergency issue resolution.
- Provide support for Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) activities as required.
- Apply SAP OSS Notes, support packs, and patches as needed, maintaining awareness of SAP releases and technical upgrades.
Knowledge Sharing & Continuous Improvement
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members on PM-related technical components and ABAP best practices.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence and innovation, recommending new technologies, tools, and process improvements while maintaining cost sensitivity.
- Maintain strong working relationships with client stakeholders, functional teams, and IT partners.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 10 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, with a strong focus on SAP PM, SM, and PS modules.
- Extensive experience supporting SAP ECC technical infrastructure and environments.
- Hands-on experience with SAP integration technologies, including integration with external and web-based applications.
- Strong knowledge of RICEFW development, enhancements, and SAP technical architecture.
- Experience with S/4HANA environments and related technical adaptations is required.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and deliver high-quality technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with functional, technical, and business teams.
