- Conduct comprehensive health assessments for BDDS clients to determine medical needs and establish individualized care plans.
- Monitor clients’ physical, emotional, and behavioral health status and document any significant changes.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, maintaining compliance with physician orders and agency protocols.
- Collaborate with case managers, direct support professionals (DSPs), families, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
- Provide ongoing health education and training to staff and caregivers regarding medication administration, infection control, and emergency procedures.
- Ensure all nursing documentation is completed accurately and timely in compliance with BDDS, Medicaid waiver, and agency requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to Individualized Support Plans (ISPs).
- Review and monitor MARs (Medication Administration Records), incident reports, and ensure corrective actions are implemented when necessary.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of BDDS regulations, waiver requirements, and best practices in developmental disabilities nursing.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Indiana.
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year nursing experience; experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred.
- Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Skills:
- Strong assessment and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Working knowledge of BDDS, Medicaid Waiver, and state regulatory guidelines.
