Bright Beginnings, Inc. is a non-profit organization that operates early childhood and family learning centers for families experiencing housing instability. Bright Beginnings implements a two-generational approach to:

  • Ensure every child experiencing housing instability is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged;
  • Develop school-ready and kindergarten-prepared children;
  • Support families in breaking the cycle of inter-generational poverty; and
  • Partner intentionally to eradicate disparities and remove obstacles to economic mobility.


Summary: 

The Education Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the center and provides leadership and oversight to the teaching staff to ensure compliance with all federal and local requirements and the delivery of high-quality education services, including implementing the curriculum with fidelity and completing ongoing child assessments. The Education Manager collaborates with Instructional Coaches and center leadership to support staff professional development, promote progress toward school-readiness goals, and ensure continuous program quality improvement.


Essential Duties:

  1. Ensure all licensing standards, Head Start Program Performance Standards, and other applicable local and federal regulations are met and maintained in the day-to-day center operations and delivery of education services

    Develop a staffing schedule that maintains required staff-to-child ratios at all times, including creating daily lunch/break schedules and providing coverage when needed, and supports children’s health and safety

    Ensure safe, positive, and welcoming classroom environments for children and their families

    Support implementation of the program’s curricula to promote children’s learning and development across all developmental domains, including language and literacy, through weekly review of lesson plans, providing feedback to teaching staff, and classroom observations

    Support teachers’ implementation of responsive and effective teaching practices

    Monitor child outcomes data to ensure all timelines and requirements are met by aggregating assessment data, analyzing results, and providing center leadership with a regular snapshot of children’s progress

    Collaborate with Instructional Coaches to develop school readiness goals and track/monitor progress towards the identified goals

    Collaborate with Instructional Coaches to ensure teaching staff receive individualized and classroom-level support

    Plan and implement professional development activities for the teaching staff

    Participate in interviews to assess instructional fit for the Education Team

    Complete the annual self-assessment and use information from ongoing monitoring to develop and implement plans for continuous program improvement

    Ensure complete, accurate, and timely completion of all required record-keeping, data collection and analysis, documentation, and paperwork, including reports to federal and District grantors, and other parties as requested

    Participate in all professional learning opportunities

    Maintain confidentiality at all times.

    Follow all applicable BBI policies and procedures, including the Standards of Conduct, to safeguard children from abuse, neglect, or exploitation while in the care of the Center.

    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BA degree in Early Childhood Education, or a Bachelor’s Degree, or an advanced degree, and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early education teaching experience

    Two years of early education/child care center management experience, preferred

    Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills

    Strong computer skills with expertise in Windows-based programs, such as the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ChildPlus preferred

    Mission and culture alignment

    Must demonstrate flexibility in work settings, maturity of judgment, and ability to work collegially

    Must have the ability to maintain a cooperative, diplomatic working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, and families. and the community

    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment


Physical Demands:

  • Be able to lift 25-50 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on the floor, see, hear, and speak.
  • Be able to raise objects from a lower to a higher location or move objects horizontally from one location to another.
