Bright Beginnings, Inc. is a non-profit organization that operates early childhood and family learning centers for families in Washington, DC. Using a two-generation approach, Bright Beginnings Inc. works to ensure every child experiencing housing instability is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged; develop school-ready and kindergarten-prepared children; support families in breaking the cycle of inter-generational poverty; and partner intentionally to eradicate disparities and remove obstacles to economic mobility.

Summary The Site Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the child development center, ensuring that all programs and activities are delivered in a safe, efficient, and developmentally appropriate manner. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage and support a team of educators and staff, and a deep commitment to providing exceptional care and education for children.

Essential Duties:

  • Leadership and Supervision:
    • Supervise and support a team of teachers, assistants, and other staff members.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.
    • Handle staffing issues, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
  • Program Management:
    • Oversee the implementation of curriculum and educational programs, ensuring they meet developmental standards and center objectives.
    • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs and adjust as needed.
    • Plan and coordinate age-appropriate activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure that the center complies with all local, state, and federal regulations and licensing requirements.
    • Develop and enforce health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment for children and staff.
    • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of the facility and equipment.
  • Parent and Community Engagement:
    • Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians, addressing concerns and providing regular updates on their child's progress.
    • Organize and facilitate parent-teacher conferences and community events.
    • Collaborate with community organizations and resources to enhance program offerings and support services.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Facilitate all site-related operations and remain in compliance with limited supervision.
    • Manage center budgets and financial operations, including expense tracking and reporting.
    • Maintain accurate records related to attendance, incident reports, and staff documentation.
    • Handle enrollment procedures and manage waitlists as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development, Social Work, or a related field. 

 

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

 

  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
    • Proficiency in administrative tasks and computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office, child management systems).
  1. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions. Must have the ability to maintain a cooperative, diplomatic working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, families, and the community.

 

  • Certifications: 
    • CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Required to meet any state-specific certification or licensing requirements.
  1. Must have DC local and Federal criminal record clearance, Child Protective Register check status and substance abuse testing.
  2. Documentation of Tuberculin-free condition and health screening on an annual basis.
  3. Must maintain training and professional development credits current.

 

  • Attributes:
    • Passion for working with young children and a deep commitment to their development and well-being.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on the floor, see, hear, and speak.
  • Be able to raise objects from a lower to a higher location or move objects horizontally from one location to another.
  • Be able to sit for extended periods in front of a computer.

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
