Position Summary

The Clinical Director provides clinical leadership, oversight, and mentorship to Clinical Administrators, BCBAs, and Behavior Technicians while ensuring the delivery of high-quality ABA services. This role is responsible for maintaining clinical standards, supporting staff development, overseeing utilization and quality assurance initiatives, and collaborating with families, community stakeholders, and internal departments to promote positive client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Caseload Oversight

  • Provide clinical oversight and consultation for assigned regions and teams.

  • Conduct parent training, supervision, treatment planning, and clinical consultation as needed.

  • Complete and review assessments, treatment plans, behavior intervention plans, and reassessments.

  • Support Clinical Administrators and BCBAs with complex clinical cases, treatment recommendations, and behavior reduction strategies.

  • Collaborate with families, schools, physicians, and other service providers to ensure continuity of care.

  • Review clinical documentation to ensure compliance with payer requirements, BACB standards, and company policies.

  • Monitor service utilization and treatment recommendations to ensure clinical appropriateness and medical necessity.

  • Conduct weekly case update meetings to bring together intake, clinical, and staffing departments for coordinated decision-making. 

  • Provide case coverage and initiate services when necessary to support continuity of care.

  • Collaborate with scheduling and intake teams to ensure timely case allocation and onboarding. 

  • Provide guidance and support to BCBAs regarding case transitions, workload adjustments, and client continuity of care. 

  • Assess incoming client cases and determine appropriate BCBA assignments based on clinical needs, location, and staff specialization.

Clinical Administration & Staff Management

  • Directly supervise and mentor Clinical Administrators and other designated clinical staff.

  • Conduct regular supervision meetings and performance discussions with Clinical Administrators.

  • Analyze utilization reports, clinical outcomes, productivity metrics, and quality assurance data.

  • Identify barriers to service delivery and implement solutions to improve clinical performance and client outcomes.

  • Review incident reports and collaborate on appropriate follow-up actions.

  • Approve community-based programming and outing requests as clinically appropriate.

  • Support workforce planning, caseload distribution, and staffing needs in collaboration with operational departments.

  • Provide coverage for Clinical Administrators during vacations, leaves, or other absences.

  • Attend and actively participate in leadership meetings to align clinical operations with organizational goals and strategic initiatives. 

  • Contribute to utilization meetings by analyzing service data, identifying trends, and supporting decisions that enhance efficiency and clinical quality. 

  • Collaborate with department heads across scheduling, intake, Service Coordination, Training, and Clinic Operations to ensure cohesive communication and coordinated service delivery. 

Training, Mentorship & Professional Development

  • Lead BCBA onboarding, orientation, and mentorship initiatives.

  • Provide training on assessments, treatment planning, goal development, clinical writing, and ABA best practices.

  • Conduct clinical workshops, continuing education opportunities, and team development activities.

  • Support professional growth and competency development among Clinical Administrators, BCBAs, and Behavior Technicians.

  • Promote ethical decision-making and adherence to BACB standards throughout the organization.

  • Provide individualized coaching and performance feedback to clinical staff to support growth and competency. 

  • Provide supervision and oversight for fieldwork trainees pursuing certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). 

  • Review and approve fieldwork documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with BACB guidelines. 

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Collaborate with the Assessment Specialist to ensure treatment plans, assessments, and clinical documentation meet quality assurance standards.

  • Monitor compliance with payer requirements, state regulations, BACB Ethics Code, and organizational policies.

  • Review clinical outcomes and make recommendations to improve treatment effectiveness and client progress.

  • Support audit preparation and corrective action planning when necessary.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and best practices.

Recruitment & Organizational Support

  • Participate in BCBA recruitment efforts, including candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.

  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives, program development, and organizational growth.

  • Respond to parent, staff, and stakeholder concerns in a timely and professional manner.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, committees, and special projects.

  • Maintain communication standards by responding to emails, phone calls, and other communications within established timelines.

  • Represent Bright Achievements at community outreach, networking events, and professional conferences as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or related field. 

  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing.

  • Active state licensure where applicable.

  • Minimum of 5 years of ABA clinical experience, including insurance-based supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing clinical operations.

  • Strong understanding of payer requirements, authorization processes, and medical necessity criteria for ABA services. 

  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Experience with electronic medical records and data management systems, including Rethink Behavioral Health, preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising Clinical Administrators, BCBAs, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience with quality assurance, utilization management, and clinical program development.

  • Multi-state ABA experience preferred.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid position with a combination of telehealth, in-home, school, community, and administrative responsibilities.

  • Travel may be required for client services, supervision, staff development, and community outreach activities.
