Writing Programs Project Manager - part-time

This part-time position manages scheduling and events for the Writing Programs unit in the Library Instruction department. It also includes teaching Writing 150 information literacy sessions, collecting and reporting statistics, and documenting processes.

What You Will Be Doing In This Position

Support Writing Programs Scheduling, Reporting, and Website Maintenance

  • Collaborate with Library Instruction Specialist to schedule library instructors for Writing 150 library sessions and assist with Writing 312 scheduling as needed.
  • Manage scheduling issues that may arise.
  • Gather instruction-related statistics for the writing program classes and verify the accuracy of LibInsight statistic entries
  • Provide regular statistics reports.
  • Assist the Library Instruction Specialist in maintaining and developing content for the library website for new instructors.
  • Present Writing 150 Information Literacy Sessions (25%)
  • Teach Writing 150 information literacy sessions.
  • Develop lesson plans and other materials for information literacy sessions.
  • Evaluate and improve personal teaching performance.
  • Meet with course instructors to plan sessions and collaborate on learning outcomes.

Project-manage Library and Department Events

  • Assist in the event planning process for the library New Student Orientation tours (4 times a year), library-wide events (1-2 times a year), and other smaller instruction-related events.
  • Coordinate with library instruction event planners and other library groups involved in events.
  • Facilitate department and unit events.

Organize and Document Processes

  • Review unit processes and simplify, streamline, and systematize as needed.
  • Clarify, document, and update processes and procedures for scheduling, statistics, and other tasks as needed.
  • Organize and maintain inventory for unit materials.

Participate in Professional Development

  • Participate in department and unit trainings.
  • Attend relevant library and university training.
  • With supervisor, determine other position-related professional development activities and the scope of involvement.

What Qualifies You For This Role

Minimum education/experience required:

  • Associate degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Two years project management experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Two years teaching experience

Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:

  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Excellent ability to interact with a variety of people and communicate clearly
  • Adaptable to changing schedules and priorities
  • Ability to learn new software and processes

Preferred

  • Skills in managing projects and people
  • Understanding of adult learners
  • Familiarity with website design and editing

Additional Comments

This position may require some evening or Saturday hours to support events and teaching. Events may require an occasional work week longer than normal.

The work schedule will be consistent most weeks during Fall and Winter semesters but it can be adjusted as needed for quieter times of the year.

Pay Grade: 48

Typical Starting Pay: $20.25-$26.50

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
