Job Description Academic Advisor BYU Online High School (BYU OHS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Academic Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the ESA School Counselor to support students and families in academic planning, college readiness, mental health referrals, and overall student success. This is three-quarter time, year-round position in an online school environment. What you’ll do in this position: Student and Parent Support Advise students and parents in creating and maintaining four-year academic plans, including those with learning accommodations. Support students with course selection, registration, referrals to tutoring services, and college admissions documentation. Monitor academic progress, attendance, and behavior, providing appropriate counseling and referrals. Collaborate with teachers and leadership to implement tiered interventions and promote student success. Assist with college and career planning, financial aid, and scholarship applications. Compliance and Records Management Assist in reviewing and processing transcripts and maintaining accurate student records. Ensure students meet graduation requirements in accordance with USBE guidelines. Admissions Support Review transfer credits and evaluate transcripts for program eligibility, including international evaluations (SpanTran, IERF). Operational Collaboration Partner with school leadership to develop and implement plans aligned with BYU OHS goals. Support initiatives to improve academic standards and equity in online education. Contribute content to newsletters, brochures, and program websites. Note: This is a part-time position (28) hours per week. What qualifies you for this role: Required A firm commitment to the mission of BYU Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field Proven experience in academic counseling and/or student advising Preferred Master’s degree in a relevant field Experience with FERPA regulations What we offer in return: This position comes with fantastic benefits, including: 401k.
