Job Title: Adjunct Teaching - Physics and Astronomy - Physics 313R

Position Start Date: January 7, 2026

Required Degree: Master’s degree or higher in Physics, Astronomy, Physics Education, or a closely related field. PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or Physics Education preferred.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching or instructional support in a college or university setting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience mentoring or training teaching assistants.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based teaching practices and educational assessment.

Duties/Expectations:

  • Design, organize, and deliver training for new and continuing TAs.
  • Mentor and support TAs in effective teaching practices, grading strategies, and student engagement.
  • Coordinate assessment and feedback systems to improve TA performance and training effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with faculty and departmental leadership to align TA training with course objectives and university policies.
  • Supervise the walk-in tutorial lab that services introductory courses.
  • Maintain records of participation, evaluations, and outcomes for program reporting and improvement.
  • Contribute to the department’s mission to provide exceptional teaching and learning experiences.
