Postdoctoral Candidate
Laboratory of Dr. Elisabeth M. Battinelli
POSITION SUMMARY:
A research scientist position is available in the Battinelli laboratory to define the influence of platelets in the tumor immune microenvironment.
We are looking for an outstanding and experienced molecular and cellular biologist or cancer biologists with strong background in cell culture, in vitro modeling, in vitro and in vivo cancer models/assays and cancer cell biology. The candidate should be highly competent in cell biology, hematopoiesis, immunology, and/or cancer cell biology. Extensive experience that combines all the mentioned expertise with a proven track record is strongly preferred. The position requires a candidate with strong interest in translational science. Strong communication and personal skills are required to work in a highly collaborative and translational orientated research group working at the cutting-edge interface of cancer biology and hematology.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, and should have a PhD degree in cancer biology or a hematology related field.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Read, analyze and summarize published literature.
· Design and execute in vitro and in vivo experiments.
· Undertake relevant coursework if required by mentor.
· Attend relevant scientific meetings.
· Meet regularly with mentor to review project progress and milestones.
· Plan and deliver regular seminars on the project.
· Take on lab responsibilities (e.g. purchasing, maintenance of lab safety records, help to train new members to master new skills) when necessary.
· Write a final report or submit a manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal describing the project and results.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Doctoral degree (M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D.)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Laboratory setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possible lifting of 10 to 20 lbs (such as a portable incubator), depending on nature of chosen project(s).
