Duties
- Conduct thorough diagnostics using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics to identify issues with diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks including tractor-trailers, farm machinery, industrial equipment, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to repair or assemble vehicle parts and equipment.
- Service and repair vehicle systems such as shocks & struts, wheel alignments, tire service, brake systems, electrical components, and HVAC units to ensure optimal operation.
- Maintain detailed service records and complete inspection reports; interpret schematics for precise troubleshooting and repairs.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing procedures; assist with heavy lifting tasks as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating repair needs clearly and ensuring timely completion of work.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engine repair and heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.
- Dealership experience is highly preferred for familiarity with manufacturer specifications and advanced diagnostic procedures.
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair including transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension components, electrical systems, and HVAC.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and assembly of mechanical parts.
- Skilled in reading schematics and using diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or farm machinery is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail in all repair tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with mechanical expertise to ensure client satisfaction.
