Job Summary:

Provides consistent, structured one-to-one support to parents, caregivers, or guardians of youth with emotional and behavioral health needs as part of the FIT (Family-Based Intensive Treatment) team to improve the capacity of the parent, caregiver, or guardian to parent the youth to improve the youth’s functioning, support the youth in the community, or assist the youth in returning to the community.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Adheres to all applicable state and federal regulations; ensures compliance with the organization’s policies and procedures, code of conduct, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Engages parent, caregiver, or guardian in activities in the home and community to:
    • Address one or more goals on the youth’s treatment plan
    • Assist parent, caregiver, or guardian with meeting needs of the youth and meet one or more of the following purposes:
      • Educating, supporting, coaching, modeling, and/or guiding
      • And may also include education; teaching the parent, caregiver, or guardian how to navigate child-serving systems and processes; fostering empowerment, including linkages to peer and parent support and self-help groups; teaching the parent, caregiver, guardian how to identify formal and community-based resources (e.g. after-school programs, food assistance, housing resources, etc.)
  • Delivers services designed to support a parent, caregiver, or guardian in improving capacity to ameliorate or resolve a youth’s behavioral or emotional needs and/or support a parent, caregiver, or guardian in accordance with the youth’s existing treatment or care plan.
  • Attends FIT meetings and assists the parent, caregiver, guardian in articulating the youth’s strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Maintains contact with the family 3-5 times per week.
  • Offers and delivers services in the home, community, schools, day care, foster homes, and other community settings.
  • Completes all required documentation in accordance with agency policy and performance specifications.

Qualifications, Experience and Education:

Minimum education and experience requirements:


  • High school diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma (HISET) and a minimum of two years of experience with children/adolescents/transition-age youth

OR

  • Associate’s degree in a human services field from an accredited school and one year of experience working with children/adolescents/transition-age youth

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited school and one year of experience working with the target population.
  • Prior experience as a caregiver of a youth with special needs, preferably a youth with mental health needs.
  • Prior experience in navigating any of the child and family-serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License and use of personally insured vehicle for agency business.
