About Bridgton School House

Bridgton School House is a new micro-school opening in Bridgton, Maine. We are seeking a thoughtful and engaged Assistant Educator to support our Lower Elementary classroom serving children ages 6–9.

Our approach is Montessori-aligned and child-centered, emphasizing hands-on learning, independence, curiosity, and strong relationships. The program allows educators flexibility to follow the child while maintaining thoughtful structure and intention.

This is a foundational (“pioneer”) role for someone who is excited to help build a school community from the ground up and contribute to the daily rhythm and environment of a new learning space.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Educator in guiding a mixed-age classroom of children ages 6–9
• Assist with preparing and maintaining a thoughtful, well-organized learning environment
• Support children during lessons, work cycles, and classroom activities
• Encourage independence, curiosity, and respectful interactions among students
• Observe and assist with children’s academic, social, and emotional development
• Help maintain classroom materials and organization
• Contribute to the daily routines and overall classroom culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or coursework in Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred
• Experience working with young children preferred
• Interest in Montessori education or child-centered learning environments
• Montessori training is preferred but not required; candidates should be willing to pursue Montessori training as the program develops
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Patient, attentive, and respectful approach to working with children
• Ability to work collaboratively within a small-school environment
