What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Counselor position at Bridgman Public Schools?
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Appropriate Michigan School Certification and License required. Master’s Degree in School Counseling.
2. Middle School teaching experience preferred.
3. Thorough knowledge and experience implementing a comprehensive school counseling program model based on the ASCA National Model. This includes; facilitating regular classroom counseling lessons (Grades 5-8), collaborating with a social worker to design small group interventions, and providing responsive individual counseling services when warranted.
4. Skilled and experienced in addressing academic, career, behavioral, social and emotional needs of students.
5. Successful experience working with students having special needs, at-risk students and their families.
6. Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
7. Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with students, staff, administration and parents.
8. Strong organizational skills required.
