Position Overview
The Operations Manager will oversee a portfolio of civil construction projects while providing leadership to Project Managers and field teams. This role blends project oversight, team leadership, and operational strategy within a general contracting environment, ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, and profitably. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond individual project management and into broader operational leadership with a respected civil GC.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple civil construction projects within a general contracting structure
- Lead and support Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
- Drive operational efficiency across projects, processes, and teams
- Collaborate with leadership on staffing, planning, and resource allocation
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with clients, owners, and partners
- Support preconstruction, planning, and execution strategies
- Identify areas for growth, improvement, and expansion within operations
Qualifications
- 8–20 years of experience with a civil construction general contractor
- Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior PM with leadership responsibilities
- Background in site development, utilities, excavation, or heavy civil
- Ability to oversee multiple projects and lead teams effectively
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Desire to step into (or continue in) an operations-level role
