Occupational Therapist PRN

The candidate for the Occupational Therapist position will partner with new and ongoing residents to assess the need for, develop and deliver services; and be able to identify the need for and make referral(s) to other disciplines.

Essential Functions

An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

•  As necessary or applicable, provide supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students and support team members in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards. 
•  Responsible for adherence to department and resident treatment schedule, timely clinical and point of care billing documentation requirements, and work-related meetings. 
• Attend and contribute to resident care, resident/family conferences and other related meetings. 
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the resident. 
• Screens, assess and evaluate residents, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures, synthesis information and interpret examination findings to establish a provide diagnosis education, identify impairments, determine the predicted level of improvement and the time required to achieve it, identify precautions/contraindications and design and plan of care. Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the resident and caregivers, implement the occupational therapy treatment plan, and complete all related documentation and record keeping regarding these services.  
•  Adapt program and/or plan of care according to the needs of individual resident. 
• Consult with other members of the team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident. 
• Promote a safe environment; Demonstrate knowledge of responsible use of facility equipment, and best practice for equipment use.  
• Exhibit resident centered care: ensuring that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights. 
• Assessment for, fitting of and/or application of adaptive devices; and/or trains resident/caregivers in using adaptive devices included orthotics and prosthetics. 
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual's physical, cognitive and emotional capacity, and interest.
