Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and material handling equipment throughout the Atlanta metro area.
This position is ideal for an individual with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills who enjoys working independently, solving complex technical issues, and building strong customer relationships. The successful candidate will provide onsite service support while ensuring equipment reliability, customer satisfaction, and compliance with all safety standards.
A company service truck, tools, laptop, and mobile phone will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service and customer support during onsite field visits and via telephone.
- Perform installation, startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of automated storage and retrieval systems and material handling equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot low-voltage control circuits and 230–600VAC three-phase power systems.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, conveyors, chain-driven systems, belt-driven systems, and other automated equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections to maximize equipment performance and reliability.
- Report daily service activities, repairs, and customer interactions to the Regional Lead Technician.
- Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation in planning and completing daily service assignments.
- Utilize company software systems for scheduling, work order management, service documentation, and customer reporting.
- Create and maintain a safe work environment by following all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate service records and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain inventory levels of repair parts and consumables within the company service truck.
- Ensure company-issued vehicle, tools, laptop, phone, and test equipment remain clean, organized, and in proper working condition.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers while delivering a high level of customer service.
- Support engineering and technical support teams with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Participate in factory training programs and ongoing technical education on company products and systems.
- Participate in compensated after-hours on-call and technical support rotations upon successful completion of training.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Travel Requirements
- Daily travel throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area and surrounding territories.
- Company-provided service truck for all business-related travel.
- Limited overnight travel may be required for factory training, special projects, or customer support needs.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent experience in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Automation, or a related field.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of low-voltage control systems and 230–600VAC three-phase power distribution.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, and industrial control components.
- Experience troubleshooting conveyors, chain drives, belt drives, and automated equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS).
- Material handling, warehouse automation, or conveyor system experience.
- PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, or similar platforms).
- Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.
- Previous field service technician experience.
- Experience with equipment commissioning and startup activities.
- Military technical maintenance experience is highly valued.
