Job Summary
This part-time Yard Maintenance Tech position provides yard maintenance and general labor support to housing operations throughout the organization. The Yard Maintenance Tech position is responsible for ensuring the Bridges to Change portfolio of residential homes is well maintained through regular yard maintenance, preventative and seasonal projects and maintain inventories and maintenance schedules. The position may perform other general duties and/or projects, as assigned.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Interacts with a diverse population effectively, through effective communication with house managers, residents and community partners
- Mowing, trimming, edging, and fertilizing lawns to maintain their appearance and health
- Pruning trees and shrubs
- Safely operate various landscaping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, spreaders, and power tools
- Performing spring and fall cleanups, hauling debris, mulching, watering, and ensuring job sites remain clean and organized, gutter cleaning and snow shoveling
- Maintaining inventories, maintenance schedules, and other relevant records
- Performs general labor, as needed
- Regularly reports on overall maintenance and upkeep of properties
- Abides by organization policies and procedures, confidentiality laws and Fair Housing guidelines.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The following are the minimum levels required to successfully perform the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Bridges to Change’s auto liability policy requirements
- Experience using lawn maintenance equipment (lawnmower, weedwhacker, hedge trimmers, etc.) required
- 1-3 years yard maintenance, groundskeeping, or landscaping experience, preferred
- Familiarity with general maintenance including plumbing and electrical systems, preferred
- Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. and to sustain prolonged periods of standing, walking, and stooping as part of regular job duties
- Ability to operate hand tools and power equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain an organized workspace
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage urgent operational demands while prioritizing tasks to ensure continuity and effectiveness
- Proven proactive approach in identifying, addressing, and resolving facility-related issues to maintain a safe and functional environment
- Demonstrated success at working effectively in a diverse, collaborative team environment, with skills in promoting inclusion and cultural responsiveness
- Experience in collaborating with community partners to identify shortcomings in the organization and in building partnerships to improve outcomes
- Excellent communication, trauma informed approach and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to maintain high professional standards at all times with client, staff, and community partners
- GED/High School Diploma, preferred
Working Conditions
Environment and Physical Requirements: The Yard Maintenance Tech position frequently visits field locations including homes, recovery centers, office buildings and other indoor and outdoor locations. Those locations are subject to a variety of environmental weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, and dust. The position frequently requires daily travel by car. The Housing Site Coordinator position interacts constantly with staff, tenants, and others. The position stands, walks, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. The incumbent must be able to lift, push, pull and move files and equipment in excess of 50 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, twenty hours per week with flexibility in scheduling. The Yard Maintenance Tech position also travels extensively and may be required to occasionally work extended hours including evening, weekend and/or holiday work as job duties demand.
