Shift:  30 hours a month/Cannot be on probation or parole

Job Summary This part-time BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) House Manager is gender responsive, serving male identifying residents. Additionally, this position is culturally specific, offering culturally appropriate housing for Black, Brown and Indigenous men. The House Manager provides onsite overnight support in a recovery-focused group living environment. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy, and A&D-free residence while fostering community, accountability, and trust among residents. The House Manager promotes harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practices through daily interactions, crisis intervention, and collaboration with BTC staff and community partners. By overseeing household operations, facilitating house meetings, and supporting residents in their recovery pathways, the House Manager plays a key role in creating a stable, respectful, and supportive living environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

*Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

*Provides consistent overnight presence in the residence to monitor resident curfew violations; seeks approval and coverage for extended absences in excess of four nights per month.

*Maintains a safe, healthy, and alcohol/drug-free living environment within the residence.

*Builds and sustains positive, respectful and professional relationships with residents, fostering trust and accountability. 

· Collaborates with BTC staff and community partners to provide a safe and livable environment for the residents.

· Administers and documents random, observed, gender-specific urinalysis screenings in accordance with program standards.

· Provides timely crisis response and intervention, including contacting emergency services, administering overdose reversal when necessary, connecting residents to appropriate crisis resources, mediating conflicts that commonly arise in group living environments, etc.

· Promotes harm reduction strategies in daily interactions, supporting residents while respecting individual recovery pathways.

· Observes, documents and reports resident behavior, incidents and notable events promptly to BTC staff.

· Conducts weekly house meetings to support community building and facilitate problem solving amongst residents. · Addresses challenges and conflicts through effective communication, de-escalation strategies, and creative problem-solving.

· Oversees property and grounds upkeep, including posting and monitoring household chore rotations and submitting maintenance requests. · Coordinates household operations such as monitoring inventory and ordering supplies.

· Performs minor maintenance repairs, as needed.

· Attends monthly House Manager meeting and other mandatory training.

· Abides by organization policies and procedures, confidentiality regulations, and relevant federal/state housing standards.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The following are the minimum levels required to successfully perform the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities.

· State ORCHARDS CBSH background check clearance, required

· Ability to live onsite and provide consistent overnight presence, required

· Minimum 1 year of continuous sobriety, required and maintained

· Active participation in a verifiable program of recovery, required

· Lived experience related to the population served, strongly preferred

· BIPOC cultural competency, required: demonstrated knowledge of the traditions, values, and customs of the communities served, with experience working directly with individuals who identify as Black, Brown, and/or Indigenous.

· Demonstrated understanding of systemic racism and structural inequities impacting communities, and a commitment to fostering equity and culturally responsive practices.

· Prior experience supporting individuals impacted by substance abuse and/or mental health within transitional housing settings

· Demonstrated ability to maintain healthy professional boundaries while holding others accountable with compassion and respect.

· Skilled in crisis intervention, conflict resolution and de-escalation.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with trauma-informed, culturally responsive and inclusive approach.

· Organized and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain accurate records.

· Commitment to high professional and ethical standards when engaging with residents, staff, and external partners.

Working Conditions

Environment and Physical Requirements: The House Manager works in a residential environment, living onsite with various residents. The location is subject to a variety of environmental weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, and dust. The position interacts constantly with staff, visitors, program participants, government agencies, and others. The position stands, walks, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. The incumbent must be able to lift, push, pull and move files and equipment in excess of 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Sunday, approximately 30 hours per month. The House Manager is required to work evening, weekends and/or holidays as job duties demand.
