What are the responsibilities and job description for the Roadway Design Engineer (EIT/PE) - OpenRoads position at Bridges Staffing LLC?
Our client, a well-established civil/transportation design firm in Knoxville, TN, is hiring a Roadway Design Engineer to own TDOT and local-government roadway projects end to end in OpenRoads Designer. Small team, 3-4 projects at a time, direct mentoring from a senior designer, and a path to PE and leadership. Bonus paid twice a year.
Responsibilities
- Design alignments, profiles and cross sections in OpenRoads Designer
- Drainage calculations and pipe sizing; earthwork
- Pull quantities into TDOT estimate and quantity sheets
- Project management (~10-15%): schedules, TDOT meetings, forms
- Coordinate with TDOT and local-government clients
- Apply AASHTO, MUTCD and TDOT standards
Requirements
- BS Civil Engineering (ABET)
- ~3 years in roadway design
- Productive in OpenRoads Designer
- Drainage design and pipe sizing knowledge
- PE, or EIT on the path to PE
- Onsite in Knoxville, Mon-Fri
Preferred
- PE license
- TDOT experience
- Traffic or bridge design experience
